An Artists’ Guide to Karachi

An Artist’s Guide to Karachi is a children’s book and exhibition guide written and illustrated by Sophia Balagamwala, commissioned by The Furqaan Ahmed Collection for the exhibition ‘Karachi Cartographies- Seeing the city Through Art and Archives’.

Filled with playful illustrations, images of artworks, little facts and interactive activities, the guide looks at histories and ecologies of Karachi through the works of select artists from the exhibition. Designed by Aziza Ahmad.

Karachi Cartographies- Seeing the city Through Art and Archives’ is the title of a book and exhibition that examines Karachi through contemporary art and archival material, spread over Canvas and Koel galleries, from June 2nd to 20th, 2026.  The Furqaan Ahmed Collection promotes scholarship, research, archiving, and publishing around Pakistani contemporary art.
