Aurat March Posters

2021

Aurat March is an annual demonstration held on / around March 8th International Women’s day across Pakistani cities. These posters were made for Aurat March Karachi, in conversation with the organisers, to depict specific concerns that were being highlighted that year.

The 2021, due to COVID-19, instead of a March there was a socially distanced dharna/ sit in. The years themes included included environmental justice, labour issues and housing rights.

2022

In 2022 I made two posters, one focused on the acknowledgment of the labour of health care workers, the fisherfolk communities, domestic and sanitation workers.

The second poster was for the slogans Ujrat, Tahafuz and Sukoon, - to speak about fare ages, social security, and peace/ rest.

2023

The 2023 poster had food insecurity, the housing crisis and city-wise demolitions, and climate justice as its main themes. The Aurat March artworks are used for social media to illustrate and begin share the demands of each years marches, and are also used as posters and fliers distributed city wide to advertise the marches.
